We are Tobias and Julian. In 2016, we launched ADAM BOWS. Since then, we’ve been living our dream of running our own small fashion studio.

How it all began

One day, one of us was getting married, and the goal was to really dress up. “No problem,” Tobias thought to himself. But then began a seemingly endless search for beautiful accessories. When all that research turned up nothing, an idea struck him: Why not make something yourself that you can’t find anywhere else?

The Idea

That’s how the vision of two friends who’ve known each other since they were kids in the sandbox came to be. The idea became more and more tangible, and we realized it could work. Because of our jobs, our time was limited to evenings and nights. But that was enough to lay the foundation. As we sewed our first prototypes in the living room, our dream of starting our own men’s accessories company became more and more real. Now there was no turning back.

The Founding 

With the official launch, the idea became a reality. “Adam Bows” was off to a flying start. Boom! Now it was time to give it our all. It was an intense period. It was only through our absolute enthusiasm that we were able to overcome quite a few hurdles, because there was a lot to learn. Luckily, we both have very different strengths that complement each other perfectly. Julian is the creative mind, and Tobias always keeps track of everything. That’s how we were able to handle almost every aspect—from product development and the online store all the way to the design—100% on our own.

Initial Sales

At the end of 2016, our website was finally launched. We had everything ready, and now the anticipation was building. Would anyone even want our products? Nothing happened for a few days. Then the first order came in. Even though it bow tie just a single bow tie , we completely lost it and ran around the apartment dancing. Of course, back then we didn’t have a real office yet.

Present

A lot has happened since then, and we’ve learned a thing or two—whether it’s about fashion, how to run a business, or, above all, how to inspire you with our products. We’ve also moved into a proper Adam Bows home. Since 2020, you can find us in Hamburg’s Altstadt. Feel free to visit us here by appointment to check out our accessories. We’ve got cold water and beer waiting for you :)

Since it eventually became a bit too much work for both of us, we were able to welcome our first employee in 2019. Since then, the team has grown to six indispensable people.

We no longer sell our accessories exclusively through our online store. You can find us in about 80 stores throughout Germany.

The Family-Owned Business

By the way, it’s worth mentioning that the wedding I mentioned earlier made us brothers-in-law. That makes Adam Bows a real small family business (Tobias ⚭ Julian’s sister). And when the going gets tough, the rest of the family has to pitch in, of course ;)
